Slovenia’s Peter and Domen Prevc celebrated the first-ever double victory of brothers in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup after claiming a one-two finish in Engelberg.

Peter Prevc produced jumps of 139.5 metres and 134m to score 297.1 points and win the first of two individual competitions in the Swiss town.

"It was a great day for me and for my family," he said.

"Especially the first jump was really great, I'm very satisfied with it.

"The second jump was on a bit lower level.

"I think that it's easier for me now to handle the situation of being among the favourites for the Four-Hills-Tournament.

"But it's still too early to think about that.

"Tomorrow we have another competition here and it's still a long time until the end of the Four-Hills."

Sixteen-year-old Domen Prevc achieved his first-ever World Cup podium finish with jumps of 133.5m and 134m, and 283.5 points.

"I didn't expect such a good result," he said.

"I thought that I might have problems jumping in this high altitude, but I had two very good jumps.

"Peter is an inspiration for me.

"He pushes me and makes me better and better."

Finishing third was Japan’s Noriaki Kasai, who at 43 years of age became the oldest jumper ever to finish on the podium in a World Cup competition, despite finding himself down in 12th place after the first round.

Kasai, who scored 273.5 points with his jumps of 131.5m and 134m, said: "I'm very satisfied.

"It was a perfect competition for me.

"Tomorrow I want to jump well again; I hope that I can win.

"The Four-Hills-Tournament is something special for me and I would like to be on the podium in all four competitions."

The second competition in Engelberg is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
