Pyeongchang 2018 has signed up Daedong Industrial as the official supplier of tractors for the Winter Olympics in just under three years time.

Daedong, one of the largest tractor manufacturers in South Korea, has agreed a "new and unique partnership" according to organisers.

A ceremony was held at the Pyeongchang Organising Committee's offices in capital Seoul to mark the agreement, with attendees including the Games' vice-President Lee Junha and Daedong's vice-chairman Kim Jun-sik.

"We deeply appreciate Daedong’s decision to join the sponsorship program," said Lee.

"We are confident that their elite class tractors will play a very important role in the smooth operation of the Games.”

Daedong have been named as a tier three supplier, which means they will be able to exercise various marketing rights in South Korea including use of the Games' intellectual property rights.

"We believe this is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the excellence of our tractors," said Kim.

"We will give our full support to help make the 2018 Olympic Winter Games successful.”

A lack of domestic sponsors was cited a major concern for Pyeongchang earlier this year, but deals with three major Korean companies - Hyundai, Samsung Group and Korean Air - have eased fears.

Other local sponsors are manufacturers SK Group, law firm BKL, telecommunications provider KT, Youngone Outdoor's North Face brand, Pagoda Education Group, Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers and online auction and shopping mall Interpark.

The Games will take place between February 9 and 25.
