China claimed three titles on home ice as the International Skating Union Short Track World Cup in Shanghai concluded today.

The hosts secured both the men's and women's 500 metres crowns, with Olympic silver medallist Kexin Fan taking the ladies' honours after dominating her race.

The 22-year-old led from start to finish and extends her overall World Cup lead over the distance, with her time of 43.676 sec seeing her home ahead of Canada's Marianne St-Gelais.

Chunyu Qu ensured a second Chinese spot on the podium as she finished in front of South Korea's Minjeong Choi, the only other skater in the final.

Meanwhile, the men's title was collected by Dajing Wu, with the twice Olympic medallist taking advantage of compatriot Jignan Shi being penalised to seal the victory.

Shi had led for the majority of the race, but it was Wu who would prevail ahead of Dutch skater Sjinkie Knegt and Canada's Samuel Girard.

The win means Wu has taken the lead in the World Cup classification for the distance.

China's third gold medal came in the men's 1500m as Ziwi Ren held off the challenge of five skaters to triumph, holding the lead for the final eight laps of the race.

South Korea claimed the other two spots on the podium with Jiwon Park taking silver ahead of his team-mate Yoon-Gy Kwak.

Despite not competing over the distance today, Knegt has retained his overall World Cup lead in the distance.

The women's 1500m title went to Korea's Suk Hee Shim who edged in front with two laps to go and held on for victory ahead of Canada's Valerie Maltais and fellow Korean Alang Kim.

Elsewhere, there was a historic first World Cup gold medal for Hungary in the men's 5000m relay.

The country took advantage of a crash involving China and Canada and led the second half of the race for the win.

Italy finished second and the Canadians recovered to take bronze.

The women's relay honours went to South Korea, who came ahead of Canada and The Netherlands respectively.

The Short Track World Cup season is now set for a break - with the next event taking place in Dresden, Germany, between February 5 and 7.
