Lindsey Vonn made it three from three in completing a perfect weekend of International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup action with super-G victory in Lake Louise today.

The American, who claimed downhill wins on each of the last two days, continued her impressive form to cross the line in 1min 19.79sec, more than a second-and-a-half clear of the rest of the field.

Austria's Tamara Tippler was second, 1.32 seconds behind,

Another Austrian, Cornelia Huette, finished third, a further 0.03 back.

Remarkably, it marked the third time Vonn has won both downhills and the super-G in Lake Louise, also doing so in 2011 and 2012.

She has now won 18 times at the Canadian resort, which some have dubbed "Lake Lindsey" as she gained her 70th overall World Cup win.

"I am very, very happy," she said afterwards.

"It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend."

The 31-year-old, who broke Austria's Annemarie Moser-Proell record for the most female World Cup wins ever earlier this year, now has a realistic chance of breaking Ingemar Stenmark’s men's and overall mark of 86.

She has committed to continuing for at least three more seasons until the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, so has every chace of doing so if she retains her form and fitness.

Austria's Marcel Hirscher is another athlete enjoying a strong weekend, meanwhile, winning for a second successive day at Beaver Creek after finishing first in today's giant slalom.

The four-time reigning World Cup overall champion secured a 33rd career World Cup victory, prevailing by 0.98 of a second over two runs after crossing the line in 2:32.58.

This came after US rival Ted Ligety crashed through a giant slalom gate to exit the competition.

France’s Victor Muffat-Jeandet was second, followed by Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen.
