Organisers had been forced to cancel official training and qualification on Thursday (November 26) due to the wind.

With conditions having failed to improve sufficiently yesterday, the first day of competition was rescheduled to today following a team captain’s meeting.

Reduced wind had enabled the start of the event to get underway with a total of 70 athletes set to take to the hill, including 15-year-old Finnish jumper Niko Kytösaho.

The 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival gold medal winner is considered one of the country’s top prospects and produced an effort of 93.5 metres as one of the early jumpers.

However, Germany’s Andreas Wank produced the best effort of the competition by achieving 129.5m, with Japan’s Junshiro Kobayashi occupying second place on 112.0m after 43 athletes.

A worsening wind though caused competition to be halted once more and eventually the jury were forced to cancel the event.
