The site, which can be accessed here, features news and information ahead of the event, the last Rio 2016 Paralympic Games qualifier, which begins on November 26 and runs through to November 29.

It includes previews of participating athletes, a video promoting the competition itself and will provide up to date news and results when the competition in Portugal gets underway.

The guidelines for judokas who will be competing in the tournament are also available on the website.

Information on accommodation, the host venue, the qualification process and who will officiate at the Championships has been provided by IBSA for the benefit of competitors, coaches and other officials.

The event itself takes place at the second largest sports hall located within the metropolitan area of capital city Lisbon, which has a capacity of 3,500.

The Championships, hosted by the Portuguese Judo Federation and the Portuguese Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities, follow on from the sport’s success at the European Games in Baku where visually impaired judo was the only Paralympic discipline on the programme.

Two weight categories were included - women’s under 57 kilograms and men’s over 90kg and the events were a full and integral part of the judo competitions at Baku 2015.

The men's event was won by Azerbaijan's Ilham Zakiyev and the women's by Ukraine's Inna Cherniak.

Portugal was confirmed as the host nation of the 2015 IBSA Judo European Championships by the governing body in July.

The 2013 edition of the event was held in Eger, Hungary.
