“We are proud of the support that we enjoy from our fans - I’m sure that the other nations will envy the backing that we receive both from the crowds in Brazil and from those watching back at home, and it will provide added motivation for our athletes on the field of play.”

British fans will be hoping to see their Paralympians better the haul which they achieved at London 2012, where they finished third on the medals table behind China and Russia on a total of 120, including 34 golds.

The development follows Rio 2016 putting 3.3 million tickets on sale across 23 sports for the Paralympic Games worldwide.

Prices will range from BRL10 (£2/$3/€2.50) for the cheapest seats to BRL1,200 (£215/$340/€300) for the most expensive, which is for the Opening Ceremony.

Two million tickets are priced at BRL30 (£6/$9/€7.50) and if all 3.3 million are sold, Rio 2016 will surpass the 2.8 million which were sold at London 2012.

Travel Places will, however, add a 15 per cent handling fee for all British residents keen to purchase seats for the Paralympics.
