Those in attendance will hear discussion on the role of broadcast and digital media in growing sports worldwide, with the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) planned channel a major topic.

Key questions to be examined included what the inspiration was for the channel, and how it will be structured, funded and delivered. 

How the channel will be tailored to different parts of the world in terms of both language and programming will also be discussed, as will how the channel could assist the development of sport across the globe.

The impact on existing Olympic broadcasters will also be part of the talks, as well as how it may affect individual sports.

Speakers will include Vincent Chupin, the Olympic Channel Commercial Team Leader, and Mark Parkman, the Olympic Channel's manager.

The channel was unanimously approved in December in a move IOC President Thomas Bach described as "a great, great step forward" but no date for its launch has yet been announced.

In July, Bach said targeting a mainstream audience with a "different approach" to broadcasting sport was a major aim of the new network.

SPORTEL conventions are considered the most important for sports business people and allow for some of the industry’s most important figureheads to network and discuss business plans.
