Iran lead the way in their second round group at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Men's Asia Championship thanks to a comprehensive 111-56 win over Hong Kong in their opening clash at this stage in the Chinese city of Changsha.

The defending champions were far too strong for their opposition and sit at the summit of Group E with three wins from three after two victories in the opening phase against teams who also progressed this far were carried over.

Mohammad Jamshidijafara top-scored for Iran with a 22-point haul with his country looking well set for a place in the quarter finals.

Elsewhere in Group E, The Philippines are second after a 73-66 win over fourth-placed Japan, with the top four from the two six-team groups advancing to the last eight.

Palestine are third after carrying two victories over but they began life at this stage by losing 73-70 to an India side who sit fifth.

Hong Kong sit bottom of the group. 

In Group F, the other second round group, hosts China are also top with a record of three victories form three after they won their opening clash at this stage against bottom side Kazakhstan, 75-62.

South Korea are second after overcoming a Lebanon side who led by 11-points at one stage, 85-71.

Lebanon are fourth after the reverse, while third place is occupied by Qatar despite their 84-73 defeat to fifth-placed Jordan.
