The 2015 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships is set to have a record number of participants with more than 300 athletes from 41 nations due to compete in Odense, Denmark.

It represents an increase of 30 per cent from the 2014 edition of the Championships, which were held in Daytona Beach in the United States, where 132 competed in the men’s competitions and 87 took part in the women’s individual events.

Competition in the Danish city will represent a major step towards the Rio 2016 Olympics for many of the gymnasts with the first berths at the Games due to be awarded to athletes at the close of the event, which is set to run from November 26-29.

Fourteen world titles will be decided at the event and the competition draw, which decides the order in which gymnasts compete in the qualification round, was held at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The draw, which was overseen by Odense 2015, is important for delegations ahead of the Championships as it enables them to refine their competition strategies.

Lots were drawn to decide the orders of the men’s and women’s trampoline, synchronised trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline events.

Odense 2015 believe the event will continue Denmark’s strong support for trampolining, which made its Olympic debut at Sydney 2000 and has been present ever since.

"After the 2001 World Championships, the 2008 European Championships and World Cups in 2011 and 2013, Odense will be welcoming the elite of the trampoline world for the fifth time," said Flemming Knudsen, President of the Danish Gymnastics Federation and Odense 2015.

While the Championships will prove crucial to gymnasts seeking Olympic places, it will also be important for those whose disciplines do not appear at Rio 2016 with competition in Odense acting as the sole qualifying competition of the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
