England's Muninder Hayer secured a gold medal in the seated club throw F31 class with a world record throw of 12.18 metres on another exciting day of athletics at the 2015 Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA) World Games in Nottingham.

He overcame the difficult conditions which were hardly conducive to good performances in the throwing events.

"It was a tremendous effort, particularly in view of the conditions, and we know there is more to come because Muninder has already achieved that in training," Hayer’s coach Graham Felton said.

Scotland’s Gavin Drysdale was also in excellent form, powering to victory in the men’s 200 metres RR3 race, taking the title and clocking a world record 38.15sec.

The third world record of the day to be broken came in the men’s 200m RR2 event as Denmark’s Lasse Kromann posted a time of 40.00 to claim gold.

Elsewhere, Austria’s Angelika Erhart bagged her third gold medal of the Games, adding the 3,000m title to her T36 800m and F36 javelin crowns, while Scotland’s Nathan Blackie also secured a treble as he won the 200m T34 class with a time of 1min 04.30sec.

Scotland’s Shelby Watson, who set a world record time on her way to winning the women’s 400 metres T33 event yesterday, claimed her third gold by surging to victory in the 800m wheelchair T33 class.

England enjoyed a fruitful day in the throwing events as Mitchell Dutton threw an impressive 36.60m to take the seated shot put F38 class title and compatriot Samantha Gray’s effort of 3.91m was enough to earn gold in the seated shot put F33.

Gavin Yarwood then achieved three personal bests on his way to reigning supreme in the men’s F33 with a distance of 8.24m, while team mate Amy Wareing sealed a historic gold by topping the podium in the women’s P38 pentathlon, the first time the discipline has been staged at a CPISRA World Games.

Australian Darren Thrupp was in superb form as he won the men’s long jump F37 category with an effort of 5.07m.

There was more success for Austria as Markus Ebner rounded off an exciting day with victory in the men’s 5,000m T38 class.
