Good wins on day two put the two countries in strong positions, but neither managed to come away with maximum points after playing out a 4-4 draw.

Elsewhere in the Pool, Canada recorded victories against Algeria, 5-0, and Britain, 4-1, while Sweden lost 6-1 to Australia before beating South Korea 4-2. 

Finland and Israel shined in Pool X, with the former overcoming both Spain and Denmark, 7-2, and the latter triumphing 7-3 at the expense of Ukraine and Greece.

Spain prevailed 6-5 winners against Denmark in the Pool’s closet match, while Ukraine got the better of Greece in a 3-1 success.

Meanwhile in the men’s competition, the opening Pool A match of the day saw Germany and hosts South Korea share the spoils after finishing level in a 16-goal thriller.

Germany went on to beat Mexico 8-3 later in the day, while Spain had a contrast of fortunes, winning 6-3 against Egypt and losing 8-0 to Sweden.

As for Pool B, Japan earned a surprise 5-5 draw against Iran, who later claimed a 13-5 win against Belgium.

Australia lost 11-1 to China before beating Venezuela 15-8, while there were wins for Belgium, 9-6 against Japan, and China, 6-3 against Canada.

In other news from the World Games, the sport of showdown, one of IBSA's longest-running, made its debut on the programme.

Showdown is sometimes referred to as table tennis for the blind because it is a table game.

However, the tables do not have courts marked on them, therefore points are scored by hitting the ball into a goal pocket.
