Hosts Canada claimed a trio of medals at the Boccia Americas Team and Pairs Championships in Montreal, where competing countries had the first opportunity to gain ranking points ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Having won four of their five matches along with Brazil, the home nation came out on top in the BC4 pairs competition by virtue of the fact that they conceded just five points compared to their opponent’s 15, with Argentina placing third.

Canada had to settle for silver in the BC3 pairs competition, sandwiched between winners Brazil and bronze medallists Colombia, while a third-place finish came their way in the BC1/BC2 teams competition behind Argentina and Brazil, who took first and second respectively.

The Americas Team and Pairs Championships was the second Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) sanctioned event of the year.

Canada was the top performing nation at the 2011 Parapan American Games, winning two gold medals, one silver and two bronze.
