Astana Arlans Kazakhstan have secured their 13th consecutive World Series of Boxing (WSB) win with a 4-1 away victory over Argentina Condors.

The first match of the evening was a rare loss for Kazakhstan as Junior Zarate overcame Zhomart Yerzhan 3-2 in the light flyweight class, but they brought it back when bantamweight world bronze medallist Kairat Yeraliyev defeated Jonathan Emanuel Sanchez.

Astana Arlans then took the lead thanks to Samat Bashenov’s fifth successive WSB victory as he won every round against Lucas Ivan Gimenez in the light welterweight class, before they opened up an unassailable 3-1 lead at middleweight when former world and Asian champion Zhanibek Alimkhanuly defeated Christian Zarate on points.

Kazakhstan heavyweight star Vassiliy Levit then earned a Rio 2016 Olympic Games quota after stopping Argentina’s Diego Blanche and finishes top of the weight’s rankings.

Astana Arlans Kazakhstan will now visit Italia Thunder next week, while Argentina Condors travel to Azerbaijan Baku Fires.

Meanwhile in Maiquetía, Caciques Venezuela secured a 3-2 home win over Italia Thunder to sit a single point behind third placed Italy in the Group B table.

Despite the loss there was some good news for the Italian team members with Ireland’s two-time Olympic bronze medallist Patrick Barnes earning his seventh successive victory of the season to finish top of the light flyweight rankings and earn him a Rio 2016 quota after he defeated Yoel Finol.

Another Irish fighter, Commonwealth Games bantamweight champion Michael Conlan, also won for Italy, overcoming José Vicente Azocar 5-2 to achieve his own Olympic quota.

There was also an Olympic quota for Venezuela’s Luis Arcón in the light welterweight after he ousted Italy’s Vincenzo Mangiacapre 48-47.

Caciques Venezuela will now go to Rafako Hussars Poland in the last week of the Regular Season.

Elsewhere, Mexico Guerreros kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive with a 4-1 away win over China Dragons in Sanya.

Mexico Guerreros will finish their regular season at home to the British Lionhearts next week, while China Dragons host the Algeria Desert Hawks, who secured a 4-1 home win over Morocco Atlas Lions this weekend in the second ever WSB African derby.

Morocco Atlas Lions will next host the Russian Boxing Team.

There was also a home win for Rafako Hussars Poland in their penultimate home match of the regular season as they overcame the USA Knockouts, who will next host Puerto Rico Hurricanes, 4-1 in Szczecin.
