A total of 55,000 tickets have been made available for the race at the Sochi Autodrom, which circles the indoor venues used during last year's Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This is the same number as that for the inaugural edition in 2014, with organisers claiming ticket prices don't exceed those of last year. 

As part of the new ticketing programme, motorsport fans will have several options, including two-day and four-day tickets.

Two-day tickets are available for the temporary grandstands, while four-day ticket holders will have a chance to walk along the pit lane on the day before the race weekend and enjoy the action from Friday October 9 through to Sunday October 11.

The minimum ticket price is RUB3,500 (£45/$65/€62), for which a Walkabout Ticket can be purchased.

Valid from Thursday October 8 through to Sunday, Walkabout Ticket holders can visit the Formula One Village and attend concerts of Russian and international artists on the Medals Plaza.

Motorsport fans who purchase their tickets before June 9 will get a 20 per cent discount and there are also children's  tickets available for those who want to come to the race weekend with their families.

"It's not just about the Russian Grand Prix,” said Richard Cregan, international consultant of the Formula One Russian Grand Prix.

“It’s about a weekend of entertainment in Sochi surrounding the Grand Prix".

A further improvement is the option to choose not only a grandstand sector, but also seats.

Although there is one less grandstand at the circuit, the capacity of the general admission area around the Bolshoy Ice Dome has been increased to 8,500.

Ticket prices for the grandstands, offering an excellent view to the most spectacular parts of the track, start from RUB9,520 (£121/$178/€168).

Main Grandstand ticket holders will be able to enjoy the spectacular start of the race, follow the work of mechanics during pit stops and see the podium ceremony, with tickets costing upwards of RUB20,700 (£265/$386/€365). 

Sochi Autodrom Lounge Tickets are the most expensive, offering world-class service, exquisite dishes and seats with an excellent view of the race track.

As well as the Grand Prix, which was won by Great Britain's Lewis Hamilton last year, the circuit will hold rounds of the GP2 and GP3 Support Racing Series.

Meanwhile, Sochi Autodrom has announced a cooperation agreement with Russia’s largest programme of motorsport support, SMP Racing.

Organisers are planning the implementation of new projects such as the creation of a junior driving school on the basis of Sochi Autodrom, and delivering different racing series events.

"We consider Sochi Autodrom to be the centre of the Russian motorsport,” said Dmitry Samorukov, head of SMP Racing.

“We plan to equip our base here with a good choice of cars.

“All the rest is already here.”
