More tickets have been made available for the 2015 Rugby World Cup ©Getty ImagesEngland Rugby 2015 have announced today over 20,000 new tickets have been put on general sale.


The additional tickets are made up of a mixture of seats released from ongoing venue planning and configuration, handbacks from the tournament's commercial programme and tickets that have been registered on the official ticket resale service by fans who are now unable to attend matches.

It takes the number of tickets currently on general sale to 70,000 tickets, while further tickets are set to be released in the coming months, with details set to be provided in advance of sale.

In addition to the 10 matches currently on sale, tickets are anticipated to be available for a further 20 games, including the opening match of the tournament at Twickenham Stadium between England and Fiji on September 18.

Tickets for World Cup holders New Zealand's opening match against Argentina at Wembley Stadium on September 18 are also expected to be available, Scotland's Pool B match against two-time champions South Africa on October 8 and Ireland's final Pool D fixture against France on October 11 at the Millennium Stadium in Wales.

Fans will be able to buy tickets from tickets.rugbyworldcup.com which is also the official ticket resale service and allows fans to sell purchased tickets at face value through a secure, transparent and authorised system.

Tickets posted for official resale will be put on general sale within 72 hours, with the service set to run throughout the build-up and duration of the six-week tournament.

Any ticket not sold through resale 24 prior to a match remain the property of the selling fan for them to use to attend the match.

Rugby World Cup 2015 is also urging fans to buy tickets from official sources, with fans able to use an 'Official Checker' tool to check whether a company or website is an official channel at www.rugbyworldcup.com/buyofficial.
