The award was handed out by its station on a special anniverssary programme at the Sahid Hotel in the capital city.

Chief editor Iwan Hary gave the award to Subowo, a member of the International Olympic Committee.

Radio Elshinta and KOI are now hoping to maintain the cooperation that already exists, with the station being a "good partner in preaching the latest sports developments".

With Jakarta due to host the Asian Games in 2018, good cooperation with local broadcasters will be key in raising the profile of the continental multi-sports event.

"Thank you for the cooperation so far," said Subowo when receiving the award.

"I expect cooperation between KOI and Elshinta [to be] maintained and hopefully Elshinta [will] remain the leading carrier of information."

Among others to receive awards was Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
