The French Olympic medallist followed up yesterday's 7.5-kilometre win with victory in the women's 10km pursuit by clocking a time of 30:07.7 with three penalties, ahead of Germany's Laura Dahlmeier and Weronika Nowakowska-Ziemniak of Poland.

Dorin Habert led from the outset, with Nowakowska-Ziemniak solidly in second.

However, Dahlmeier then made a big move to overtake Nowakowska-Ziemniak for second place in a time of 30:23.0 with two penalties.

Nowakowska-Ziemniak clocked 30.39.3 with three missed shots.

"I am more happy than yesterday," Dorin Habert said.

"I never thought this would happen.

"But I did think about it in my bed before I came to the race today.

"When I missed two shots in the second standing, I said that I needed to be really fast."

Meanwhile in the men's event, Olympic medallist Erik Lesser secured gold in the 12.5km pursuit to earn Germany its first gold medal of this World Championships.

He shot clean and finished in 30:47.9 for the win.

"In my World Cup career this was my first perfect race; really amazing," Lesser said.

"This is on the same level as my silver medals in the Olympic Games.

"I knew I was in good shape and that I could work well on the shooting range and the tracks.

"No one has a really good feel for victory before the race; biathlon has its own rules.

"I think Johannes [Thingnes Bø of Norway, who finished 31st] had a plan, but the penalties changed that.

"I have nothing to complain about."

Russian Sochi 2014 relay gold medallist Anton Shipulin finished with the silver medal in a time of 31:04.9 and one penalty, while Norway's Vancouver 2010 gold medallist Tarjei Bø claimed bronze in 31:06.6.
