To follow up yesterday's sprint win, she claimed victory in the 10-kilometre classic with a time of 25:27.8, ahead of compatriot Heidi Weng, who was 17.3 seconds back and Sweden's Charlotte Kalla, who clocked 25:53.1.

"I had perfect skis today," Bjørgen said.

"I felt powerful from the beginning.

"After 5km I was in the lead of five seconds and I thought the race is going my way.

"It is incredible I could win both competitions here in Lahti.

"My goal is to take all three crystal globes this season."

She now leads the overall World Cup standings on 1,968 points, with compatriots Therese Johaug in second on 1,248 points and Weng third on 1,181.

Meanwhile, the men's 15km classic saw Italy's Francesco De Fabiani securing his first World Cup victory, while Norwegian Martin Johnsrud Sundby's 10th place finish was enough to ensure he won his second consecutive Overall World Cup title with 1,244 points.

For De Fabiani the win was also his first World Cup podium finish.

He finished in a time of 34:51.2, ahead of Kazakhstan's Alexey Poltoranin in 34:54.2 and home athlete Sami Jauhojärvi in 34:55.8.

"I was very motivated to show my best today after a disappointing performance in the 50km in Falun last week," De Fabiani said.

"It is great to win a first World Cup.

"I was lucky today.

"I skied with Lukáš Bauer [of the Czech Republic] two laps and he helped me a lot to win the race today."

The top three positions in the overall standings are completed by Norway's Petter Northug on 922 points and Dario Cologna of Switzerland on 921 points.
