Donovan set a new mark of 16.32 metres to win the event ahead of team mate Claire Keefer and there was repeated success for the hosts in a meeting that doubled as the Queensland State Championships.

Chad Perris, who leads the world rankings, took victory in the men's ambulant 100m with 11.06, while T42 world champion Scott Reardon finished just 0.13sec outside the world record of 12.11 in his event.

"It's great having an international meeting here in Australia," Reardon said afterwards.

"The future of international Paralympic sport, especially in athletics, revolves around the IPC circuit doing really well.

"If we can start to build it throughout the world to make it the equivalent of the Diamond League it would be ideal."

However, although there were some good races, there was a relatively weak international challenge as Australian competitors won every event.

Ella Pardy took women's T12 100m victory, while Alberto Campbell and Stephanie Schwitzer picked up wins in the men and women's 400m races and teenager Jaryd Clifford and Chloe Iwanoczko clocked times of 2min 05.27sec and 3min 01.91sec to win 800m events.

The wheelchair races also saw Sam Carter and Matthew Cameron trading blows, with Carter winning the 100m before Cameron gained revenge by coming out on top in the 400m, while 31-year-old Richard Colman was victorious over 800m.

New Zealand's Jack Lewer came closest to upsetting the home crowd, but finished second behind Guy Henly in the men's discus.

The next IPC Athletics Grand Prix Series event will take place in Tunis, Tunisia between March 23 to 25, while the World Championships will take place in October in Doha, Qatar.
