Suva will host the ONOC General Assembly next month ©WikipediaFiji is gearing up to host the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) General Assembly next month.

They are set to welcome more than 100 representatives from more than 17 nations for the event, which will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva from April 28 to May 2.

Among the officials set to attend are International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and Association of National Olympic Committees President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

"We have some prominent people coming," said ONOC President Robin Mitchell, who is also an IOC member.

The Assembly will also be followed by workshops and a programme is currently being finalised.

Mitchell said Suva was selected as the host city for the Assembly because of its facilities.

"We want to have it in Suva because of better facilities and for them to also see the new Suva after election," Mitchell said.
