The Canadian Paralympic Committee has opened the registration process for the 2015 edition of its Paralympic Schools Week ©CPCA registration process for the 2015 edition of the Paralympic Schools Week has been opened by the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC).

With the Parapan American Games due to take place in Toronto in August, the nationwide event from May 4 to 8 provides an opportunity for teachers, students and communities to show support for Team Canada and get active in sport.

Schools registered before March 27 will be entered into a free prize draw, with 25 lucky winners having the privilege of welcoming a Paralympic athlete to their institute to learn about their journeys in sport and see their medals up close.

Registered participants will receive a complimentary Paralympic schools resource pack, which includes physical and digital resources, such as prizes and links to online tools.

The CPC is working in partnership with Petro-Canada, a retail and wholesale marketing brand of Suncor Energy.

"At Petro-Canada, we understand the importance of education and how knowledge can, in turn, foster an understanding of inclusion, reflection and inspiration," said Marc Goodman, director of loyalty and marketing partnerships at Suncor Energy, and proud owner of Petro-Canada.

"We hope teachers and students across the country will enjoy learning about the Paralympic Movement and our Canadian sports heroes through the Petro-Canada Paralympic Schools Week 2015 initiative."

There are several ways for students to get involved in the spirit of Paralympic Schools Week, such as designing "good luck" post cards, posters and letters to encourage Team Canada athletes on their road to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

They can also try out activities from the CPC's Paralympic FUNdamental physical literacy resource, and participate in an exclusive LIVE CISCO web presentation featuring Canadian Paralympic athletes, who will share their stories and the impact Para-equipment has had on their athletic pursuit, on May 5.

Additionally, they can take part in the #CoinsForCanada fundraiser to support grants to local and provincial organisations for introductory Para-sport equipment such as sit-skis, wheelchairs and hand cycles.
