Toshiba have been announced as an official partner for England 2015Global electronics giant Toshiba are the latest company to become an official sponsor for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England, it was announced today. 


The announcement sees the Japanese company continue their successful association with the quadrennial event stretching back to when it was held in France in 2007, with the 2015 edition on course to be the most widely watched and best-attended event in the competitions history.

Speaking about the announcement Rugby World Cup Limited Chariman Bernard Lapasset said "We are delighted to be extending our long-standing and highly-successful partnership with Toshiba."

"The appointment of a global leader in the electronics field further underscores the strength of the Rugby World Cup brand in the global sports sponsorship marketplace.

"We look forward to working in partnership with Toshiba to project what promises to be a very special and record-breaking Rugby World Cup, attract and engage new audiences and inspire more men, women and children to get involved with and participate in Rugby."

The tournament will see 20 nations compete for the World Cup title, with New Zealand bidding to retain the title they won back in 2011 on home soil in Auckland.

"Toshiba is delighted to be continuing its successful partnership with Rugby World Cup," said Noriaki Hashimoto, Corporate Vice President, Toshiba Corporation.

"The tournament is one of the world's greatest sporting events and we're looking forward to playing our part in bringing the power and the passion of the matches to a bigger audience than ever before."

Toshiba join an extensive list of sponsors for the tournament which includes Heineken, Land Rover, Société Générale, DHL, Emirates and MasterCard as worldwide partners, with Coca-Cola and Canon as official sponsors.

Gilbert will also act as Official Ball Supplier, Canterbury of New Zealand as Official Sportswear Supplier, Clifford Chance as Official Law Firm, EY as Business Advisor and Sportfolio as Master Licensee. 

The Rugby World Cup is set to begin on September 18 and will run until October 31, with the final taking place at Twickenham in London.
