Qatar officials have toured local facilities in Doha for the Men's Handball World Championship as preparations for the flagship tournament enter the final stages.
Organising Committee President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and director general Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari began their tour at the Ritz-Carlton in the Qatari capital and reviewed operational plans for the partner hotels that will provide accommodation for the visiting dignitaries, athletes, International Handball Federation and International Olympic Committee officials and fans during the competition, due to take place from January 15 to February 1.
The tour then took in a visit to a merchandising outlet to purchase tickets and promotional items for the World Championship, with a run-through of the customer experience.
The officials also visited the uniforms and accreditation centre, received passes and reviewed all the workforce preparations before going to the volunteer centre at the Qatar Sports Club, where they were briefed about the volunteer registration process and plans for during the Championship.
The tour concluded with visits to the Duhail Handball Sports Hall and the Lusail Multipurpose Hall as the venue readiness was reviewed during a test match between Qatar and Portugal.
Officials claim the showpiece handball tournament is set to be "a major milestone on Qatar's journey to be a global sports hub".
