They are looking to recruit more than 100 people, aged 18 or older, to the Team7 Volunteer Programme, with less than six months to go until the first match at St George's Park in Burton upon Trent, which is due to take place on June 16.

The roles available include welcoming spectators to St George's Park, working in the tournament office, transporting players, staff and VIPs, and overseeing the training pitches.

Volunteers can also accompany the teams as a liaison officer, write match reports with the media team and help ground staff to prepare pitches.

"Sport happens because of volunteers and the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships will be no different," chairman Colin Chaytors told the Championships' official website. 

"We chose TEAM7, as Cerebral Palsy Football is a seven-a-side form of the game that is fast, dynamic and exciting, just like the members of TEAM7 will be."

Tournament director Jeff Davis is hopeful the volunteers will have a similar impact on the Championships to what they had on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"I witnessed first-hand through the work of the London 2012 Games Makers, the great enthusiasm for volunteering that exists in this country," he said. 

"We want to tap into this to ensure that TEAM7 will be the face of the tournament.

"They will turn what will be a good tournament, into a great tournament."

A total of 16 countries, including England, will compete at the Championships, with seven qualifying places for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games up for grabs.

The draw for the event is due to take place in March.
