Pentathlon GB has launched the website for the 2015 European Modern Pentathlon Championships, set to be the most compact in the Championship's history.

Taking place at the University of Bath, home to Pentathlon GB's National Training Centre, the Championships are due to be held next year from August 17-23.

They will see athletes swim, fence, ride, run and shoot at facilities within 400 metres of one another, while the athlete accommodation and horse stables will also be on the University site.

"In my memory there has never been a more compact venue than the one we are offering in Bath in August of next year", said former Olympic medallist and current Olympic team leader, Dominic Mahony.

The Championships will offer eight Olympic quota places for men and women at Rio 2016 as 100 of Europe's top pentathletes compete for the continent's biggest prize.

Samantha Murray, London 2012 Olympic silver medallist, said she was excited by the prospect of competing in an Olympic qualifier at her home training base.

"It will be a fantastic opportunity for our sport to harness the interest generated by the 2012 Olympics and by the performance of the British men and women there," she said.

"From my experience in London I know it will be a fabulous occasion for British athletes to compete on home soil in front of friends, families and supporters, and that's always an advantage."

The new website will be the place to go for athletes, coaches, fans and media alike for information surrounding next year's Championships.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the athletes and their support teams as well as spectators to the UK for the event," said Kara Luck, Event Director.

"Bath is a World Heritage site and we have a history of success in this fascinating Olympic sport.

"So there will also be plenty of excitement for the home crowd."

The European Championships are part of UK Sport's National Lottery Funded £27 million ($42.46 million/€34.03 million) Gold Event Series and one of 14 major events in 2015.
