Brazil (left) proved far too strong for Germany (right) ©IBSABrazil were in ominous form as they beat Germany 4-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championship in Tokyo.

The holders scored all four goals in the first half thanks to braces from Ricardinho and Jefinho and will now face China, who defeated hosts Japan on penalties after a 0-0 draw, in the last four of the competition on Sunday (November 23). 

China lost to Brazil in the gold medal match at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and also suffered defeat against the South Americans in the quarter-finals of the London 2012 Games.

The two teams met in Group B yesterday, drawing 0-0.

Argentina and Spain will contest the other semi-final after overcoming Colombia and Paraguay respectively.

A late goal for Argentina saw them snatch a 1-0 win, while Spain prevailed on penalties after a goalless draw.

It could have been South Korea competing in the quarter-finals instead of Spain but with both teams tied on two points and the same goal difference in Group C, the European champions won a specially arranged penalty shootout.

Tomorrow's action consists of four placement matches, which will go towards determining the fifth to 12th place finishers.

Turkey play South Korea, Paraguay take on Colombia, France meet Morocco and Japan go up against Germany.
