Leading the group will be Canadian chair Markus Walser, who will be supported by American vice chair Erik Petersen of the United States, a former head of competition for North America, as well as newly appointed head of snowboard, Davide Cerato of Italy.

Walser, who has already sat on the Committee for the past seven years and has 11 years of experience in Para-Alpine skiing, has described next year's World Championships, scheduled to take place in La Molina, Spain, for snowboarding from February 23 to 28 and in Panorama in Canada for skiing from March 1 to 10, as immediate priorities.

He also spoke more generally about boosting numbers of athletes competing in the sport.

"Our biggest aim is to increase participation in areas in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia," he said.

"I am also looking forward to working with former chairperson Sylvana Mestre in her new role overseeing development and youth programmes.

"For Para-snowboard, I am excited to develop events in more regions and at all levels from entry-level through to World Cup and the Winter Paralympics."

Also in the new Committee will be Canada's Ozzie Sawicki as head of technical control and officiating and Sandra Titulaer of The Netherlands as head of classification.

New Zealand's Jane Stevens will act as a co-opted member with non-voting rights as head of competition for Asia and Oceania.

Following the high of Sochi 2014, the aim will be to maintain momentum this time around building up to the two World Championships.

The full 2014-2015 season calendar building up to the two Championships will be announced shortly for both sports.

It will feature a series of World and Europa Cup competitions as well as development races.
