The main aim of the presentation is to get the support of all the Provinces in Papua New Guinea for a range of programmes set to be rolled out in the build-up to the Games.

The Provinces will be asked to support the establishment of Live Sites which will be a gathering point for people to celebrate the Games and the achievements of athletes.

Officials will also seek backing from the Governors to send cultural performers to participate in the Festival of the Pacific which is a two week long free celebration in Port Moresby designed to complement the sporting activities which take place from July 4 to 18 next year.

The Governors will be encouraged to facilitate the identification, selection and logistical support of a Youth Leadership programme being run in conjunction with the Government of Papua New Guinea.

Up to four youngsters will be selected from the Provinces across the country and will undergo leadership programmes before going on to work as volunteers during the Games.

In addition, organisers will outline the plans for the official Games Relay and how the Provinces can take part in the 100-day long journey set to get underway in March next year.

Port Moresby 2015 chief executive Peter Stewart says next year's Games will be an event for all of Papua New Guinea, and the Governors Conference provides the opportunity for organisers to outline how all the Provinces can be involved.

"We are looking for Provincial Governments to work with the Games Organising Committee to support initiatives that bring the Pacific Games to all Provinces [and] to be part of the festival of the Pacific" said Stewart.

"[This will include] assisting the Games Relay on its leg throughout the Provinces or helping us to identify local emerging leaders to be part of the Games delivery.

"We cannot show case the splendid diversity of Papua New Guinea's culture to the world without the tangible support of our Governors and their administrations."

Port Moresby will host the Pacific Games for the third time next year.

It is expected that nearly 4,000 athletes will participate in 25 sports and will feature competitors from Australia and New Zealand taking part for the first time.
