National Paralympic Committees and National Federations have until October 31 to submit their delegation calculation ahead of the Championships, which are due to take place from July 13 to 19 and provide an opportunity to qualify for Rio 2016.

They will then need to confirm how many athletes they will enter per event, a process that will be carried out during April, before putting forward the specific names of the athletes they will enter the following month.

"We expect Glasgow 2015 to be the biggest and best World Championships yet," said Agnes Szilak, IPC Swimming sport senior manager.

"Athletes will be able to secure direct qualification spots for Rio as well as experience the full Paralympic Games programme, as the competition schedule will exactly mirror the events taking place in 2016.

"We are therefore very excited about the prospect of seeing the absolute best performances from swimmers with just over one year to go until the Games."

The World Championships are the biggest event on the calendar for swimmers outside of a Paralympic year and the competition is expected to see more than 650 athletes from over 60 countries compete for honours.

Glasgow 2015 forms part of UK Sport's Gold Event Series, a £27 million ($43 million/€34 million) National Lottery funded initiative which aims to bring up to 70 world-class sporting events to the UK by 2019.

The venue will be the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, the same pool that hosted the hugely successful and popular swimming competitions at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in July and August and the 2013 Duel in the Pool between the United States and the European Allstars.
