AECOM will advise on the Tokyo 2020 venue and infrastructure developments ©AECOM The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo 2020 have appointed AECOM Technology Corporation to advise on the development of the venues and infrastructure for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The engineering design firm will work alongside partner consultant Arup and contribute to the delivery process of venue design and construction through to the legacy stage following the conclusion of the Games in the Japanese capital in six years' time.

The Los Angeles-based AECOM, an acronym for architecture, engineering, construction, operations and management, will also review the Games' master plan and counsel on the associated transportation, security, sustainability and legacy components.

"By harnessing our global expertise as the world's premier fully integrated infrastructure firm, AECOM will be able to support the Tokyo Olympic Organising Committee in delivering a memorable Olympic Games."

AECOM, which also worked on the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games, will now hold a series of workshops with Tokyo 2020 to ensure the successful delivery of the Games and the post-Games legacy.
