The FISU Executive Committee meeting gets underway tomorrow and runs until Friday (October 17).

Tomorrow and Thursday the Gwangju 2015 Organising Committee will provide an update to the FISU secretariat on the progress of competition and non-competition areas for next year's Games, while preparations for the FISU Conference will also be discussed.

The FISU Conference, being held under the theme of Development for International University Sports, will take place from July 11 to 13 during the Games themselves, which run from July 3 to 14.

The FISU delegation will conduct further inspections of venues in the South Korean city.

A Memorandum of Understanding between organisers and FISU will also be signed.

The final day of the visit will see delegations from the Organising Committees of future Summer and Winter Universaides - Granada 2015, Taipei 2017, Almaty 2017, Brasilia 2019 and Krasnoyarsk 2019 - provide progress reports on preparations.

Gwangju 2015 organisers say they will use the meeting to pay particular focus on non-competition areas such as VIP protocol and transportation, accreditation, translation and interpreting, volunteers and cultural events.

"Preparations for the Gwangju Universiade have been made so far with the close cooperation of [the Organising Committee] and FISU," said Gwangju 2015 secretary general Kim Yoon-suk.

"This Executive Committee meeting will provide an opportunity for global leaders in the university sport world to come to Gwangju and deepen our relationship and trust with one another."

FISU completed its latest inspection visit in Gwangju in July.

Since then, around 40 members of Gwangju 2015 were in fellow South Korean city Incheon during the Asian Games which took place from September 19 to October 4.

Whilst there, they gained first-hand experience in the operations of the Games to get a better understanding of running a major international multi-sport event.
