The IPC turned 25 on Monday (September 22) and celebrated by counting down the top 25 moments as voted for by its Governing Board, with London 2012 coming out of top.

Archery's world governing body has now followed in the IPC's footsteps by publishing a top eight list of Para moments in the sport's history.

The 1948 Stoke Mandeville Games, which tops the list, was organised by Dr Ludwig Guttman and featured just two sports - archery and javelin.

Number two on World Archery's list is Matt Stutzman, who was born without arms and shoots with his feet.

The inspirational American, who won silver in the men's individual compound competition at London 2012, "captured the attention of a huge audience because of his unusual disability-sport combination, and his ridiculous talent".

Third of the list of top moments is New Zealand's Neroli Fairhall becoming the first ever Para-archer to make the jump to the Olympic Games, when she competed at Los Angeles in 1984.

Other moments selected include Zahra Nemati, the first Iranian woman to win a gold medal at either a Paralympic or Olympic Games, at London 2012, and Para-archer Antonio Rebello lighting both the Olympic and Paralympic cauldrons at Barcelona 1992 by shooting a flaming arrow.
