Pei, who won the Asian title last year, shot her way to gold with a score of 455.8 points, setting a junior world record in the process.

Pei was a model of consistency throughout at the CEAR de Tiro Olimpico Juan Carlos I.

She led after the kneeling phase and finished the prone series in second before making the decisive move in the standing phase to clinch the title, two points clear of Nina Christen of Switzerland.

Germany's Selina Gschwandtner picked up her second bronze medal of the Championships after also coming third in the 10m air rifle event earlier in the week.

Gschwandtner's efforts were enough to secure gold in the team competition, however, as she and compatriots Nina Laura Kreutzer and Jolyn Beer registered a total of 1,736 points for victory.

Silver went the way of Swiss trio Christen, Marina Boesiger and Ladina Feuz, while Pei and team mates Qiu Yehan and Gao Chang took bronze.
