The IMD business school in Lausanne has been named to host Smart Cities and Sport Summit ©The World Union of Olympic CitiesThe World Union of Olympic Cities has named the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) business school in Lausanne as the host for this November's Smart Cities and Sport Summit.

The annual event will include an opening night at the Olympic Museum before moving on to the IMD building in the Swiss city, where a number of influential figures such as swimmer Michael Phelps' coach, Bob Bowman, are among the speakers.

IMD President Professor Dominique Turpin is also one of the Summit's speakers and he will share his views about the challenges faced by commercial partners when sponsoring a host city.

"We are pleased to announce this collaboration with one of the top ranked schools in the world," Mélanie Duparc, secretary general of the World Union of Olympic Cities, said.

"Professor Dominique Turpin is a fantastic addition to our already prestigious list of speakers and we look forward to announcing more names in the coming weeks."

Among the other items on the programme for the Smart Cities and Sport Summit are information on how to collaborate between cities and commercial partners, how to build strong public support for sport investment and how to integrate the hosting of major sport events in the sport policy programme of cities.

The Smart Cities and Sport Summit is due to take place from November 5 to 7.
