Kenneth Faried led all scorers at the Bizkaia Arena in Bilbao with 16 points for the winners, while DeMarcus Cousins added 13 points, DeMar DeRozan added 11 and James Harden added 10 as did Anthony Davis to ensure the US could make it four victories from as many games.

"Obviously we have to take care of here," American Rudy Gay said.

"Nothing's given.

"We've worked hard, we've been tested and we've overcome that, and also got some pretty big wins."

Also in Bilbao, Turkey managed a 77-73 overtime win over Finland, while New Zealand claimed a win to keep alive their hopes of a place in the top four of Group C, and a ticket to the round of 16 in Barcelona.

They defeated Ukraine 73-61 with the help of 17 points from Kirk Penney.

"We know our progress depends on a lot of other results," said New Zealand coach Nenad Vučinić.

"But the important thing we have in our hand is to win [against Finland on tomorrow].

"It won't be easy, with 8,000 fans against us.

"But that's the challenge we have."
