The Italians won two team gold and one individual over the two days of competition, which finished today.

The trio of Alberto Simonelli, Matteo Bonacina and Micro Falcier overcame Turkey in the men's team compound open competition, registering a score of 220 to the Turks' 209, while a mark of 224 was enough for France to claim bronze ahead of Poland.

Women's recurve open team gold went the way of Elisabetta Mijno, Annalisa Rosada and Veronica Floreno as they beat Russia to the gold with Turkey taking bronze against Czech Republic.

Prior to that Mijno showed she can do it on her own as she claimed the women's recurve bow open title getting the better of Poland's Milena Olszewska in the final while Russian Svetlana Barantseva was a comprehensive winner over Merve Nur Eroglu of Turkey in the bronze medal shoot-off.

The first of Italy's bronze medals came when Alessando Erario beat Russia's Anton Zaypaev in the men's recurve bow open which was won by Bato Tsydendorzhiev who secured Russia's only gold of the Championships overcoming Stephane Gilbert of France.

A 6:0 win over Turkey saw the Italians pick up their final medal in the battle for third place in the men's recurve open team event which was won by Great Britain's David Phillips, Simon Powell and Paul Browne were too strong for Russia.

Turkey finally managed to pick up a gold as reigning world champion Burcu Dag partnered Dogan Hanci to victory over Russian pair Stepanida Artakhinova and Aleksander Zubar in the compound mixed team competition.

Russia also lost out in a thrilling finale to the women's compound team open event as the trio of Karina Granitza, Vanessa Bui and Lucia Kupczyk secured Germany's only gold in Nottwil.

Turkey took bronze with a win over Italy.

Finland's Jean Pierre Antonios won gold in a closely contested men's compound/recurve bow W1 clash against Great Britain's Athens 2004 gold medallist John Cavanagh.

Bronze went to Czech Republic's Beijing 2008 champion David Drahoninsky, who set a world record of 670 during qualification.

Jo Firth also set a qualification record in qualifying for the final of the women's compound/recurve bow W1 before defeating compatriot Vicky Jenkins to take European gold, while Chloe Ball secured an all-British podium by seeing the challenge of Russia's Elena Krutova.

There was also a Briton on the podium in the women's compound bow open as Mel Clarke lost out Swede Zandra Reppe by a single point in a thrilling final.

Turkey took another bronze when Dag secured his second medal of the Championships with victory over Italy's Eleonora Sarti.
