Tissot has launched a special limited edition watch to mark the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup ©TissotSwiss watch manufacturer Tissot has launched a special limited edition watch in the build-up to this year's International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup which gets underway in Spain at the end of next month.

The Tissot Quickster FIBA 2014 features a bright orange aluminium ring and has the FIBA Basketball World Cup logo engraved on the caseback.

Designers say the inspiration behind the unique timepiece comes from timing some of the most important games in the world, while the embossed surrounding of the counters give it a bold attitude fit to compete, and other details such as orange indices in the counters and stitching on the leather strap add to its stylish and sporty look.

"Being associated with such an international sport as basketball underlines our dynamic nature and our values of precision and performance," said François Thiebaud, President of Tissot, the official timekeeper of FIBA since 2008.

"In turn, we will keep rising to the challenge of ensuring that success and victory at that level are firmly rooted in precision and fairness.

"Offering exclusive timekeeping services and unique designed watches also gives our passionate customers an additional reason to be proud of their commitment to Tissot."

Only 2,014 of the watches have been produced and FIBA is offering the chance for one fan to win a free watch by visiting its Facebook page.

The limited edition watch is priced at £290 ($496/€366).

"We are extremely thankful to Tissot for coming up with this excellent idea of launching a limited edition watch to commemorate the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup," said FIBA secretary general Patrick Baumann.

"Those lucky enough to get their hands on one of the Tissot Quickster FIBA Limited Edition 2014 should make sure to cherish the uniquely-designed timepiece long after the Championship is over."
