British Ski and Snowboard has dismissed Malcolm Erskine after he made “insulting” remarks about a senior BOA official ©BSSMalcolm Erskine has been dismissed from his position as chairman of the British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) Alpine, Speed and Telemark Discipline Committee after he made "insulting" comments in an email to a senior British Olympic Association (BOA) official.

The sport's national governing body said Erskine, who was elected to the role only weeks ago, breached its Code of Conduct when responding to an email that turned down his request for a breakdown of the votes for the election he had won.

His email to the unnamed recipient - in which he asked: "Are you actually a member of the BOA's legal team or do you just make the coffee?" - was branded as "inappropriate and in fact abusive" by BSS.

The issue was exacerbated still further when Erskine failed to agree to meet with officials to discuss the matter and instead spoke to Racer Ready magazine, which resulted in an article being published online that "included further insults and highly inappropriate comments about BOA staff and their relationship with BSS", according to BSS.

John Brewer, chairman of BSS, asked again to meet with Erskine but he is said to have received no response.

As a result, a BSS board meeting today unanimously agreed Erskine "was not a fit candidate to hold the position of an official within BSS".

Current vice-chair of the Alpine, Speed and Telemark Committee Adrian Pery will cover Erskine's position temporarily and the BSS said it will make an announcement on the process for electing a new chair in the next seven days with an intent to see a new candidate elected before the annual general meeting in early September.
