George Bovell will be targeting a first Commonwealth Games medal in Glasgow next month ©Getty Images London 2012 swimming bronze medallist George Bovell is one of an initial 84 athletes named on the Trinidad and Tobago squad for next month's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he will be joined by star shooter Roger Daniel.

Bovell, who took bronze in the men's 200 metre individual medley at Athens 2004, will be making his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow where he will be joined by Dylan Carter in the pool at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Shooter Daniel has three Commonwealth Games medals to his name including two silver at Delhi 2010, and will be a leading contender once again when competition gets underway at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre in Carnoustie.

Joining Daniel will be Michael Perez, Norris Gomez, Marlon Moses and Rhodney Allen.

Trinidad and Tobago will also be represented in men's and women's hockey, rugby sevens and netball, while national champions Aaron Prince and Michael Alexander will be taking part in boxing action.

Rising star Marissa Dick heads the gymnastics squad and will be joined by William Albert and Khazia Hislop, while Njisane Phillip and Quincy Alexander lead the cycling challenge with Christopher George and David Cottle the sole competitors in judo and triathlon respectively.

Dexter St Louis, Curtis Humphreys, Aaron Wilson, Yuvraj Dookram, Rheann Chung, Ashley Quashie, Aleena Edwards and Catherine Spicer make up the table tennis team, while Colin Ramasra, Kale Wilson, Kerrie Sample and Charlotte Knaggs will be taking to the squash courts in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee and its Commonwealth Games Association says it will name the 60-strong athletics squad in due course, which is expected to be led by Olympic javelin champion Keshorn Walcott and world champion hurdler Jehue Gordon.

Chef de Mission Dr Ian Hypolite will lead a team of 49 officials for the Games which take place from July 23 to August 3.

Trinidad and Tobago first appeared at the Commonwealth Games in London in 1934 and has appeared at every Games since apart from the 1950 and 1986 editions.

In that time it has amassed a total of 44 medals including eight gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze.

Its most successful Games came in Kingston, Jamaica in 1966 when it won five gold medals that included a double for cyclist Roger Gibbon.

Ato Boldon was the country's last Commonwealth Games gold medallist at Kuala Lumpur 1998 when he took the 100m title, while last time out in Delhi, Trinidad and Tobago secured four silver and two bronze medals.
