The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), which is tasked with sending the names of the selected players for the respective events to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), has only sent 15 of the 25 required documents for the Asian Games squad, who are hoping to defend their title at the continental competition, and none for the junior team.

The deadline for entry to both events was April 30.

POA President Arif Hasan is now working to see if he can get the deadlines extended to allow the teams to compete in the events.

"As the vice-president of South Asia in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), I will request the respective event organisers to extend the date of application," he said.

"It is the only chance for the teams to participate in the events.

"I am not aware when the PHF decides to send the documents.

"They have not contacted me till now."

PHF secretary general Rana Mujahid claimed he has asked the players to bring their documents to a camp starting on May 5 so that his organisation can send the complete documents to the POA by May 8.

At the end of last year, the PHF itself appealed to the Pakistani Government to step in to ensure the men's team could compete at Incheon 2014 as two rival bodies claimed they represented the Olympic Movement in the country.

The situation echoes that which related to this year's Commonwealth Games, when the PHF failed to enter the event by the deadline.

Pakistan will not compete at Glasgow 2014 as a result.
