The home side recorded three impressive wins over Australia, Spain and United States to make their way to the top of Pool D and move to their second Cup quarterfinal since round two of the Sevens World Series in Dubai.

They next face defending champions South Africa, who had to settle for second in Pool A after a 19-5 defeat to Series leaders New Zealand.

The All-Blacks moved a step closer to their 12th World Series title with progression to the Cup quarterfinals following a 26-7 win over Samoa and a 38-0 demolition of Portugal before their victory over the South Africans.

They will now face tough opposition in the form of trans-Tasman rivals Australia in the last eight.

Despite their opening match defeat to the hosts, Australia ensured their spot in the Cup knock-out phase with back-to-back wins over Spain and the US.

In Pool B, Canada narrowly edged England to the top of the table through mere point's difference following a 7-7 draw between the two sides.

Both teams recorded two wins apiece in their other group fixtures beating France and Japan respectively.

Canada will now face Kenya in the Cup quarterfinals after Paul Treu's side progressed on points difference over Wales and Argentina, with all three sides winning one match on day one.

England, on the other hand, will be up against the Series' third placed team Fiji after they secured three comfortable wins to top Pool C.

In the Bowl, Spain await Portugal, Samoa will meet the US, France will play Wales and Argentina face Japan in a rematch of their Pool encounter in Tokyo.
