The Cuba Domadores had too much power and skill for the Russians as they booked their place in the WSB final ©WSBCuba Domadores thrashed the Russian Boxing Team 5-0 in Havana tonight to secure their place in this year's World Series of Boxing (WSB) final to continue a remarkable run in their debut season.

Following a close-fought 3-2 first leg win in Moscow on April 24, the Domadores would have been confident of getting the job done in front of their own fans at the Ciudad Deportiva and they duly delivered.

Flyweight Leodan Nunez got the night off to the perfect start for the home side as his relentless work-rate and skill saw him emerge with a unanimous points win over Ovik Ogannisian.

Two-time International Boxing Association (AIBA) champion Lazaro Alvarez was next into the ring to take on Russia's Konstantin Bogomazov at lightweight.

Bogomazov managed to go the full five rounds with the number one ranked Alvarez and even recovered from a first round knockdown to come back and take the final round.

But it was not enough as the home fans celebrated another win for the Domadores.

Andrei Zamkovoi came into his welterweight clash with Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo knowing he had to win or else Russia's chances of making the final were over.

But, despite a valiant effort which saw him land some sweet shots with his left hand, the Russian could not overcome his sharper opponent who won the fight on all judges' scorecards and sealed Cuba's place in the final.

With their chances of progressing gone, all that was left for Russia was to box for pride and Aleksander Khotyantsev certainly did that against double light heavyweight world champion Julio Cesar La Cruz.

But, yet again, the Cubans proved untouchable as La Cruz put on a superb display of quick-feet, quick reflexes and punching power to easily take the bout.

The final contest of the night came in the heavyweight division and was an altogether closer affair.

Russia's Magomed Omarov was making his WSB debut and he showed that he could be a force to be reckoned with as he pushed Jose Angel Larduet all the way.

But, as has been the case so often this season, the Cuban found a way to deal with whatever his opponent through at him and Larduet managed to do enough to earn a split decision win.

The Domadores will await the winner of the other semi-final tomorrow which sees defending champions Astana Arlans Kazakhstan travel to the Guba Olympic Complex with a 3-2 lead over the Azerbaijan Baku Fires following their first-leg clash at the Almaty Sports Palace.
