They will take on eight-time German champions Alba Berlin at the O2 World Berlin on October 8 and five-time Turkish champions Fenerbahçe Ülker Istanbul at the Ülker Sports Arena on October 11 as part of the programme, which sees NBA squads playing five pre-season games in four countries.

"The entire Spurs organisation, from players to coaches to staff, is thrilled to have this opportunity to travel to Germany and Turkey for the NBA Global Games," said San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker.

"The fans in Europe are passionate about the game of basketball and we are excited to showcase the NBA to our European fans.

"In addition to the basketball experience, we all look forward to enjoying the great culture and atmosphere that Berlin and Istanbul have to offer."

As well as the Spurs games in Europe, the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings will play games in Brazil and China.

The NBA Global Games will also feature a variety of off the court activities, including NBA Cares community programmes and interactive fan events in each city.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said the initiative is a way to connect with fans worldwide as the passion for the sport continues to grow globally.

"Basketball brings people together across cultural and geographic lines, and these games are a great opportunity for our fans to experience the excitement of the NBA first-hand," he added.

Tickets for the games in Berlin and Istanbul will go on sale on May 2 and will be available at www.o2world.de/nba2014 and www.ulkersportsarena.com/nba2014 respectively.

Fans can also register for 48-hour pre-sale access to tickets on both websites.
