Thomas Bach sees ANOC as a key component of Agenda 2020 ©ITGMarch 30 - International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has called for contributions from as many people as possible to develop the Olympic Movement through Agenda 2020.

After being alluded to throughout his successful campaign for the IOC Presidency last year, Agenda 2020 was officially launched by Bach last December following a summit meeting of key stakeholders the previous month.

It will culminate in an Extraordinary IOC Session due to be held in Monte Carlo on December 6 and 7.

Bach, attending the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Executive Council meeting, which is due to take place here tomorrow, highlighted the three key areas for focus as sustainability, credibility and youth as well as the promotion of all Olympic values, described today as a "major part" of this discussion.

He reiterated how contributions from every stakeholder is welcome, and can be done at any time through the special email address [email protected], which is due to run until April 15.

Bach outlined plans to develop these ideas leading up to the Session in Monte Carlo.

"We had a first meeting of the Olympic summit in November last year, with the results of this being put forward into working groups and Commissions, the compositions of which I will announce later this week," he said.

"In July we will hopefully have another meeting of the so called Olympic summit and will reconvene with all of the major stakeholders.

"We will then set up about 15 working groups and recommendations will go to the IOC Executive Board at the end of October.

"What is decided there will be admitted to the IOC session in December for discussion and approval."

Speaking alongside ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, Bach also hailed the important role to be played by National Olympic Committees in fulfilling Agenda 2020.

"There are a lot of people here and lots of different stakeholders so we are expecting a lot of input," he said.

"ANOC can make a major contribution because they can promote Olympic values and promote sport in different ways.

"I wish Sheikh Ahmad all the best for his meetings and excellent results in the interest of the whole Olympic Movement

"I appreciate this high presence of ANOC and it shows the interest of all the stakeholders to contribute."
