The Olympic Committee Facebook page has more than 222,000 "likes", putting it in second place behind only the British Olympic Association (BOA) in terms of the European Olympic Committees.

Because the largest participating age group is the 18 to 24 category, social media has been described as an "ideal platform for communication with existing and potential sports enthusiasts".

However, people visiting the Olympic Committee Facebook group have much to be inspired by from the country's Olympians after they won eight medals at last month's Games in Sochi.
