The swimwear brand, which last month extended its sponsorship of the International Aquatics Federation (FINA) to 2019, will provide England's athletes - competing in 44 swimming events and 10 diving events at this summer's Commonwealth Games - with racing suits, training suits, goggles and caps.

Arena, which has supported England's Delhi 2010 50 metres butterfly champion Francesca Halsall as part of its Elite Team for several years, will also produce a range of official Team England merchandise that fans can buy later this year.

"We are delighted to be welcoming Arena to our family of Team England sponsors and they will provide our aquatics team with the best possible kit in which to perform and train," Commonwealth Games England chief executive Adam Paker said.

"What's even more exciting about this partnership is that fans of Team England can buy kit too bringing them closer to the team than ever before."

Arena's general manager Luca Belogi said the new partnership will help boost the firm's position in the United Kingdom swim market.

"This is an historic appointment for Arena, being the first time we'll be equipping Team England at a Commonwealth Games," he said.

"It's also significant for us since the UK is one of our primary markets, and representing one of the 'home' nations at  the largest multisport event ever to be held in Scotland will give us great exposure and increase brand awareness in the region."
