Developed in accordance with recommendations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the "Transport Directorate of the Olympic Games", has also taken into account local residents and visitors to the city, it is claimed.

Transport will be coordinated by the Logistics Transport Centre (LTC) management system, located in Sochi, which has considered the increase in demand during Games time and made the necessary preparations to ensure a "reliable and quality" service.

New roads and crossings have been built especially for the Games and seven vehicle fleets have been put into service.

Details have also been provided on the so called "Olympic lanes" which will be introduced only during the period of the actual Games and will provide quicker accessibility for vehicles with entry and parking permits.

It was also added that all competition venues in the Olympic Park are located within walking distance of each other, and the venues located in the Mountain Cluster in Krasnaya Polyana are 48 kilometres from the Coastal Cluster.

For spectators, there will be limited vehicle access but various bus and rail routes as well as cable ways to provide transportation between the hubs of the Mountain Cluster and the venues, with trains on the new Adler-Krasnaya Polyana railway every 20 to 40 minutes.

It will take 46 minutes to go from the centre of Sochi to the Olympic Park by railway, and the trains will run every eight to 15 minutes, with each train transferring more than 2,000 passengers.

As at London 2012, a competition ticket gives the right to free transportation on Olympic public transport on the day of the event.

Special buses, taking advantage of the "Olympic lanes", will transport members of the Olympic Family and athletes from Sochi International Airport to the Mountain and Coastal Clusters for training, competitions, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

A 24-hour service will operate between the three Olympic Villages, as well as internal shuttles within the villages - with more than 50 buses running between the venues.

A "Transport for Media" (TM) system has also been outlined as part of the plan, which will link the Main Media Center in the Coastal Cluster with the Gorki Media Center in the Mountain Cluster, as well as with the Games venues.
