Japan's world champion Kozo Kubo saw his chances for a top three finish in the world rankings dented after finishing seventh in the race, more than four seconds behind the leaders.

Azat Karachurin continued to dominate the men's standing contest as he blew away the field to take his spot on top of the podium.

Ukraine's middle-distance biathlon champion Ihor Reptyukh came in second with France's Benjamin Daviet finishing with a flurry over the last three kilometres to grab third.
