The athlete, who won skeet bronze at this year's World Championships in Lima, will be joined in Glasgow by her husband Malcolm Allen, with the pair having the experience of five Commonwealth Games under their belts.

They are one of two married couples named to the team, with Mike and Sarah Wixey - who have previously competed at four and one Commonwealth Games respectively, and Sarah at the Athens 2004 Olympics - being the other pair.

The squad also features a set of twins in the form of Jenny and Sian Corish, who competed at both Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010.

Commonwealth Games champion David Phelps, who won gold in the men's 50 metres rifle prone singles - as well as bronze in the pairs - at Melbourne 2006, has also been selected to feature in the Welsh contingent, along with other Games athletes Gareth Morris and Rhys Price.

Making their Commonwealth Games debut will be Mike Bamsey - who won three medals at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, Katie Cowell, Chris Watson, Jonathan Davies and Coral Kennerley - another Australian Youth Olympic Festival medallist.

"We're sending a really strong team to the Games next year; a team that work hard and are all striving to fulfil their potential," shooting squad manager and Welsh Target Shooting Federation (WTSF) chief executive John Dallimore said.

"The balance of age, experience and youth in the team is just right, the first timers have some great role models to learn from and we're hopeful of having a successful Games."

Chris Jenkins, chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales (CGCW), added that it is "great to see a mixture of experienced and new faces in the shooting team".
